My husband and I were meeting some friends from out of town for dinner and I chose Yamas! My friend just sent me a note saying she "dreams" of that wonderful meal we had. We couldn’t possibly have picked a better place. Great service, wonderful, fun surroundings, but OMG those Mediterranean Platters. There was 4 of us and we all had the same platter 2 big, beautiful platters arrived…so much food and and everything looked so delicious…Crab and shrimp and 2 steaks. It just went on and on. We had so much fun that night… Will remember it for a long time.

The food was delicious. We had humus and garlic mash to start. Followed by spinach salad and greek salad. Excellent! The belly dancer was fun, had people up dancing with her, it was fun to watch. Our server did an excellent job!

For those who love the Mediterranean food, this is a great place! The portions are good size! We missed the belly dance as it was at 730 pm! 🙁 Great service too! Would definitely dine there again when we go to Kelowna! :):)

  7. Dinner with Friends

While we were visiting Kelowna we had dinner at Yamas. We were greeted by the smell of garlic and fresh herbs and a warm welcome. We ordered Roast Lamb, Lamb chops and Mousaka. It was all delicious; and plentiful. The service was great. Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable and prompt. And…. the martinis were perfect. We will visit here again.

  8. A Little Taste of Hellas

If you are ever in Athens, Greece and find yourself in the Monastiraki District, I highly recommend a great restaurant called Sabba’s. Sit on the rooftop patio and eat dinner with the best view of the Parthenon as your backdrop. However, if the price of airfare is a deterrent and you don’t fancy the 10 hour time zone change then maybe you should try something a little closer… Like Yamas. Centrally located in downtown Kelowna, Yamas has been a fixture of the K-town cuisine for decades. Same location, same blue awning, and I believe same Greek family running the show. Tonight was another dinner here for us foodies. For the most part a pleasant evening with a few minor suggestions. Ambience/decor: traditional, casual Greek atmosphere. Busy on a Friday night which may explain our smallish table for seven. Lighting on the dim side which contrasted heavily when the setting sun shone directly through the windows into our eyes. Service: friendly and pleasant, professional yet casual. Quite impressed. Food: Lamb was excellent. For those who prefer rare/medium rare red meat, I would suggest the rack of lamb or ribs; the roast lamb is cooked more thoroughly. Greek salad was a little too oily for me. Calamari was adequate although it certainly did not stand out. Lots of garlic in the tsatsiki… Love that. And the baklava was much better than average as it is made in house; healthy portions of pastry, nuts, and honey. Finally, the wine list although not extensive was adequate and covered all the bases… Red/white, dry/fruity, local/import, etc. Value: entrees range from mid to upper end. Not cheap eats by any stretch. Experience: generally positive. A couple of minor suggestions (ie. When serving the table, ladies first). Otherwise, we enjoyed ourselves ad would not hesitate to visit again. Four stars.

  9. Another Terrific Birthday Dinner- Just awesome

     (5 / 5)

We come to Yamas each year for my birthday. This was our 4rth time. We are a group of 10 people. Each time the dinner and service has been outstanding. I ordered a pina colada this time for a change and can honestly say, no one in Kelowna makes it from scratch anymore and it was fabulous. We had chicken souvlaki, greek salad, ribs, spaghetti, spanakopita… you name it we all had something different- oh and the prawns were amazing. My son said his Ribs were the best he every tasted. My greek salad was so fresh. The tomatoes had so much flavour which I have noticed each year I eat there. Im not sure where they get those tomatoes but they are fabulous. The service was really good as always. The gal who served us was Tess. She was absolutely lovely. She went above and beyond to make certain we had the best service , double checking everything and making sure our water and drinks were flowing. Thank you Tess!! We will back back next year again!! Love this restaurant.
