  1. Perfect family dinner

     (5 / 5)

We had a family reunion we wanted to celebrate, and asked if we could have a private space in the Intermezzo restaurant. We arrived and had to wait a little bit for our table to be ready (even with the reservation) but they graciously offered us a taster of wine each while we waited, which made the wait enjoyable. When the table was ready we were seated (nine of us), the space was perfect (one person was hard of hearing and noisy spaces don’t work for them, so being in a separate area was perfect). From start to finish we were treated well and the food was excellent. We ordered halibut, chicken involtito and chicken parmigiano. All were hot, prompt and delicious. All of us had desserts – absolutely perfect cap on the evening. Even one of the servers got "bossy" taking pictures to ensure our family photo was just right. Thank you intermezzo for enabling a wonderful time of sharing a meal together for our special family reunion!

  2. Absolutely the Best Food Ever

     (5 / 5)

The atmosphere was very quaint. The service was great. Nice selection of wines. The food. I can’t say enough about the food. Our steaks were cooked to perfection the homemade Caesar salad dressing was great. The Butter chicken was very tastey. Definitely coming back every time we visit our Son. This is a family owned business and they take a great deal of pride in every aspect of this business and it shows.

  7. Amazing all round

     (5 / 5)

Went for dinner with another couple and had an amazing experience. Ordered four different appetizers (escargot, scallops, appy platter and tomato salad) all wonderful. We had a couple cocktails and wine. Cocktails were on point. My husband is very picky with his drinks and the traditional mojito was perfect. We all had steaks for our mains. I personally had the fillet mignon with prawns and my husband had the ribeye with mushrooms. It was soooo good. I enjoyed my cut and he enjoyed his. The prawns were a nice touch and cooked perfect. He really enjoyed the vegetables (haha) they were cooked and seasoned to perfection, he says. Lastly, service was excellent. Our server was attentive to our wants and needs. She was prompt, friendly and offered quality checks. Best overall experience we’ve had in a long time!

  8. Great

     (5 / 5)

I kept passing this nice little establishment and the site of it caught my eye as I place I had to check out. When I finally made it over one day for lunch they were closed but one of the owners was there and told me to come back at dinner and that usually a reservation was required but they would get me in knowing I was wanting to get back on the highway before dark. I told her I loved the flowers and patio and hoped inside was just as nice and looked forward to coming back. I arrived back early and waited for them to open but there was a bit of a mix up at the door and while I was the first to arrive I was the 3rd to be seated and they were totally thrown off that I did not have a reservation, no one else did either. I was just as happy to go if it was a problem but they finally sat me in a very dark room. I tried to catch the attention of any of the several severs wondering around to let them know either I had to take the menu out to read or they needed to turn the lights up as it was that dark. They brought me several pairs of reading glasses but I still could not read as glass were not the issue, lighting was. They finally turned the lights up and it was still very dark. The ceilings and all were black if I recall. To be seated and order took almost half an hr which was off putting and I had planned to be about an hr and confirmed that was possible earlier. Once I ordered things went much smoother and started to fall into place. I had 3 courses, a salad, a main and a desert and to start they brought me bread which was wonderful but again just missed the mark as the cold hard butter should melt into warm bread and none of this happened. My bread ripped and the butter was not spreading. It was still enjoyable. Just as my meal was very nice and I would say above average however they just missed the mark on several small details for me to give them top ratings but again I will stress they are a lovely restaurant. My server gave great service with the little extras such as making sure the bread crumbs were all gone off the table. The seemed busy and yet only had 3 tables and it was hard to get their attention. They did not seem relaxed and I picked up on that energy. Maybe I just caught a bad night. I know getting servers in any industry in BC is difficult so I can see why people rave about this place or any place that is merely decent as at least there is some care put into the entire experience. My servers sister came by remembering me from earlier and asked how everything was ( it’s a family business) and I told her the honest truth and she was offended when I mentioned the bread and a few other flaws and she protested but we are rated by the Michelin stars. She did not take feed back well which was off putting and made an even worse impression on me. Next time I am asked perhaps I will not be so honest but it was for her benefit and others customers as I gave her good positive feed back as well as what went not so great in the chance that she may want to make sure of such things such as that the butter being out of the fridge in time so it is able to spread over the bread if she is a Michelin Star restaurant. Those details are important. I asked about a small dessert and nothing huge and they accommodated me, some restaurants say everything is pre cut or measured and don’t do this so that was nice of them to be flexible. Yes the meal was nice and the service was okay with the exception of the wiping the bread crumbs which was fantastic although service got better as the evening progressed but other then that the entire experience was just average. I was not impressed with it being so dark and the washrooms were up a flight of stairs that were very difficult to get down and another lady was having the same issue as I was with the stairs so if you have any mobility issues do not use the washroom. Earlier I had asked if I could move by the one window and was told no as they had a reservation requesting that spot but no one was there by the time I left in fact over half the restaurant was still empty over an hr and a half later and here I had got this big lecture about how busy they are and reservations are suggested. I do like a roomy restaurant and it just felt like a dark dungeon inside. I might try it again when I am not in a rush just to see if I have a different experience and like I said the food was good. This is close to fine dinning in my opinion but not quite a true fine dinning and the lady had told me that at lunch when I was trying to get a feel for the place and I have to say she was right.

  9. Definitely a do over!

     (5 / 5)

Staying at Sparkling Hill and found this gem after a quick snoop around Google – Soooo, happy we chose Intermezzo tonight. Moroccan Lamb was perfect, Mediterranean mussels and the avocado salad to go with, and then closed it out on a creme bru00fblu00e9e with a big scoop of chocolate mousse on top. Lucas was our server and made sure our entire experience was amazing. Definitely a do over!

  10. Memorable anniversary meal

     (5 / 5)

We love coming to the Intermezzo for special occasions, and our anniversary was no different. My husband and I got seated at a nice couples booth tucked away in the back of the restaurant, making for a nice, private and romantic setting. While the entrees always look amazing, we can’t get past the appetizer menu and inevitably order a mix of 4 different appies for the entire meal. Escargot and mussels are always a favourite. The crab cakes we had in the past weren’t particularly unique, so we usually avoid ordering that. We always leave room for dessert since we’ve never been disappointed. I love chocolate, so it’s always a chocolate option for me and it’s alwaus divine. Their wine selection is astounding and their bartender always makes a perfect Manhattan. We look forward to our next reason to celebrate here!
