Castoro de Oro Estate Winery

Castoro de Oro Estate Winery

Family owned and operated! Award winning wines –always made in small batches from pure South Okanagan, British Colombia grapes. Rose, white blends Heart of Gold and Radiant Rhapsody, a bold red blend Crimson Rhapsody, pure varieties of white and red wines and a unique style of dessert wine. With a hands-on approach, the owners facilitate every step of the process, from grape to glass. Castoro de Oro welcomes both children and pets to its fun, cozy atmosphere. Castoro de Oro Estate Winery’s name and label pays homage to its vineyard’s terroir and the founding of Canada. The 35-year-old (planted in 1980), eight-acre vineyard is located on the Golden Mile and blessed with a unique soil combination and a small lake located at the base of it. This terroir provides an ideal foundation for growing superior grapes and a longer growing season than many other Golden Mile vineyards. Beavers helped to create the small lake during their manipulation of earth and water. And early settlers’ search for gold led to the beavers’ vast contribution to the history of the nation; the then-booming fashion industry’s need for beaver felt and fur ultimately allowed settlers to thrive, formally establish the country, and choose the beaver as Canada’s national animal. Now, deservedly so, the dapper mascot appears on every old-photograph styled label.

  1. Best kept secret

We started visiting this lovely winery 5+ years ago. Stella and Bruno are extremely knowledgeable and love to share their love for their products. These two own and run this winery it is not owned by a huge conglomerate as many of the wineries in the area. Some of my favorites are Vidal, Heart of Gold and of course the 2017 Governor General award winner Crimson Rhapsody. You won’t get the usual winery rant, Stella makes the entire experience a pleasure and not scripted.

  2. Very friendly and down to earth.

I am from Rosedale BC and were staying in Osoyoos and stopped at this winery and was glad I did. The owner was nice and down to earth and very reasonable prices for wine, a must stop.

Bruno is the perfect host…Tasted a selection of wines with a friend and decided to bring home 2014 Crimson Rhapsody a delicious blend…This particular blend received the Lieutenant Governor of BC Award Of Excellence…Congrats Bruno!!!

  4. HIghly recommend if you are looking for something different - great wines!

We have been on many a wine tour so we are always on the look-out for that ‘different’ experience. This was the place! The wine tasting was so much fun. We were fortunate to be served by the winemaker herself so we learned a lot about the wines which we love to do. She is passionate about her wines which just made this wine tasting one of our best experiences. We tried a number of varietals we have not had before – or have had infrequently. The wines are delicious. Highly recommend stopping here.

  5. Wonderful wines and great people!

We stopped in near closing time but Stella was ready to pour several of her wines for us. She was very knowledgeable about all of them and all were excellent! She even gave us a little tour after closing time. We WILL go back!

I and my bf were randomly selected 5 vineyards to visit. I picked this place as it was very cute place beside the road and we knew nothing about their wines. The lady there was funny and very helpful. I loved the shop very much I bought 2 bottles; one did win the governor general award and I kept it for almost half a year as my special occasion wine, regardless we didn’t even know the taste It was awesome.
