  1. Walking with Alpacas

     (5 / 5)

Camelot Haven is nestled in the hills above Swan Lake on the northern edge of Vernon, BC. Available by appointment only it is a gem in the North Okanagan Valley. My husband, daughter and I booked the one hour tour and had an amazing time with Julene and her beautiful herd. It became very clear, very early on in the tour the high level of professionalism, expertise and care that Julene has for her alpacas and llamas. It was wonderful to be able to watch the alpaca interacting with each other and going about their day as we walked in their pasture with them. Julene answered all our questions and shared many stories about the individual animals and her life as an alpaca farmer The morning was topped off by a visit to the Country Store which I highly recommend. There is a wide selection of alpaca yarn, rovings and batts, as well as knitted, woven and felted products made by Canadian artisans from the processed fleece from Camelot Haven. My daughter went home wth a bag of u201cAlpaca Beansu201d as a unique gift for a gardener friend. The u201cbeansu201d are packaged alpaca droppings recognized as a high quality, organic fertilizer for gardens and house plants, and a fun gift! nnBottom line is that I highly recommend Camelot Haven Alpaca Farm and will be back to take the guided alpaca walk later this month.

  2. Awesome

Even on a rainy day, we received an interesting tour from Julene. She is incredibly nice and hospitable. She has a lot of love for the alpacas and that is what she exudes.

  3. Wonderful experience

     (5 / 5)

My husband and I had a wonderful tour. Julene was informative and you could tell how much she cared for her alpacas. I would %100 recommend the tour, plus there’s a cute little gift shop at the end.

  4. Loved the alpaca tour!!

We really enjoyed visiting this alpaca farm and getting a tour! Very educational. Got to pet and hold a baby alpaca at the end which was also really neat!

  5. Alpacas in peaceful surroundings

     (5 / 5)

Camelot Haven is a unique place to visit, with alpacas and llamas leading an exceptionally spoilt life and enhanced by the dedication and daily care of Julene and her family. We were made most welcome and treated to an unforgettable experience. nThe gentle alpacas are the stars of course, and it was lovely to learn of their individual characters and how they relate to each other. They have such unusual expressions that you come away with some quite unusual photographs. nJulene’s on-site store is worth a visit in itself, where it is possible to find unusual gifts made from the alpacas wool I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area and it is definitely a place to include in anyone’s itinerary when visiting the Okanagan Valley or BC.

  6. Alpaca Paradise!

     (5 / 5)

I had the privilege of visiting Camelot Haven Alpacas a couple weeks ago during my 30th birthday vacation. I have been in love and fascinated with alpacas and llamas since my early teens and this is the first time I’ve been able to fully interact with them in a one-on-one setting. My boyfriend and I went for the alpaca walk and I can’t say enough wonderful things. He was kind of just there for me but he ended up really enjoying it as well Our two alpacas that we walked, Stavros and Kahuna, were both very different – size, age, temperaments, personalities, etc. It was really cool to see how each one was and interacted both with us and each other. Kahuna was very docile and calm and Stavros was quite spirited and a little hoppy! They were both lovely and cuddly and soft and willing to take pictures with us. It was so fun to walk them through their beautiful land and see all the other alpacas they had. Julene was so knowledgeable and polite and took a lot of pictures for us. She even gave us some fresh fruit and honey when we left I really can’t say enough great things about this little experience we had. If you have the opportunity and are staying in/passing through the Okanagan (Kelowna, Peachland, Vernon, etc.) I HIGHLY recommend visiting Camelot Haven Alpacas. The cost for our experience was SO well priced and I feel as though they could easily get away with charging more and it would still be worth it (we paid $70 for both of us for 90min) You can tell the animals are well taken care of and treated very respectfully. They did not seem distressed or like they were being forced in the least. I can see myself going back next time I’m in the area during the season and have told many people! Everyone loves my pictures and could tell I was in my prime and having the best day.

  7. Gorgeous Place to Visit

     (5 / 5)

Camelot Haven is a beautiful place to go and see some adorable alpacas while you’re in Vernon. The lovely owner Julene will take you around to different paddocks where you can get plenty of pictures with the male and female alpacas while learning all about them. An awesome bonus is that Julene arranged for us to take some haltered alpacas for a walk as well as sit in with a mum alapaca and its cria. It was a fantastic day with some gorgeous animals and Julene and her husband are absolutely lovely. They kindly gave us drinks while we looked around in the beautiful alpaca products gift shop. Make sure you book ahead so you get the whole experience!
