Truly one of Canada\u2019s exemplary destination wineries set in the heart of Okanagan Wine Country. 50th Parallel Estate is a majestic 61 acre site near the shores of Lake Okanagan boasting panoramic lake views and rare granite soils. Winemakers Matthew Fortuna and Grant Stanley have produced the winery\u2019s world-renowned Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines.

  1. Just talking about the wine, and a barrel tasting.

    So we stopped by and did the tasting at 50th today. Wines were all great, some definitely need some more time in the bottle. The unparallelled pinot does pack some serious tannins. Got to do a barrel tasting with the wine maker after the tasting room, 2018 whites are shaping up great. The reds we tried are amazing, speciifcally the one barrel of syrah they had, finished with tonnes of pepper. Will be available in a year in Block One. Can’t wait to try the finished product!!

    Note upfront, due to my passion for cooking I go to recommended restaurants with minimal expectations. nArchitecturally 50th parallel is an impressive construct. nThe restaurant is on the casual side featuring stylish super high ceiling look. Uncomfortable hard chairs enticing you to cut your visit short and make room for new guests. nWashrooms are clean and comfortable Service personal is very friendly The food we ordered was mediocre at best. Other dishes might be stand outsnWarm olives come steaming hot and dried out. Perhaps a few drops of decent olive oil would be an idea. Whatever happened to ground pepper..from a pepper mill..?nThe Wagyu tartar: nice presentation and properly spiced without being oversalted The menu lists puffed grains as an ingredient. Sounds novel but in our dish it turned out to be uncooked black rice which felt more like biting on gravel Pointing it out to the waiter he came back explaining that the chef was surprised and stunned. No further comment.. go figure The Wagyu burger was tasty and properly cooked. Served on a ‘brioche’ which is a basic fast food white bun. How about some creativity.. At least serve it on a ciabatta bun. Website highlights the chef as ‘creative genius’nThe fries were nice the ketchup was just that, ketchup. nnSkipped desert to avoid further disappointment I recommend to visit 50th parallel for its ‘spectacularity’ and a bite to eat. Don’t expect a culinary sensation .

    My husband and I have dined here twice, once for lunch and recently for diner. Both experiences were exceptional from service to food and of course the wine. The restaurant has a wonderful view of Okanagan Lake and surrounding orchard. We also did a wine tasting before our lunch and that was splendid. The food on both occasions were delicious and creative. We can’t wait to try out their patio in the summer as well. I highly recommend you stop in and treat yourself to this amazing restaurant.

    We stayed in Vernon specifically to visit Block One, and we were not disappointed. Food was excellent, with delightful presentation. Wine pairings were all wonderful. Service was great and staff were all friendly and attentive. Heartily recommended.

    I took my boyfriend here as part of his 40th birthday weekend getaway. nnI cannot begin to describe the remarkable hospitality we experienced. nnThe lovely lady who served us some wine tasters in the wine shop was friendly, kind and very knowledgeable. nnThe manager of the restaurant first offered to take a photograph of us noticing that we were doing individual photographs. nnHe proceeded to accompany us to our table in the restaurant and made some great food and wine recommendations. nnOur waiter who served us was probably one of the best in the business. He was incredibly polite and friendly and very informative. A super lovely man whose name we really wish we remembered because it truly deserves mention here but in view of the wine intake both my boyfriend and I couldn’t remember. nnAll I can say is Thank You All for an amazing and very memorable experience. We truly felt special. Keep up the stellar service!nn

    I stopped into 50th Parellel winery to have some lunch after visiting another winery in the area. The manager greeted me and sat me at the bar and recommended the crispy chicken sandwich. I took his recommendation along with the duck fat fries. The sandwich was a good call, the fries were great and I mentioned to the manager how good the aoili was. My server was very friendly and made a great cappuccino. nnAfter lunch I took a wine tasting. The sommelier should be commended for his extensive wine knowledge and friendly attitude. I left with a great bottle of the pinot noir While I admit that I hadn’t known about the winery prior to driving by, I am sure that I won’t forget it now. On Sunday evening, my family had dinner at a restaurant in Vernon. I told them about 50th Parallel’s wonderful customer service and we ordered a bottle of the pinot gris, which everyone enjoyed Thank you and I look forward to visiting again when I am back in British Columbia.

    Fantastic dinner from start to finish and a server with a passion for the food and wine she was serving. Atmosphere is a bit sparse and cold and the location is a bit more remote than the other dinner options. Expensive cab from our lake country B&B but I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a gourmet meal
